Australians researching IQ Option, IQ Broker, IQBroker.com or “IQ Option scam Australia” should be aware of a significant regulatory history that is often missing from promotional videos, affiliate websites and social-media endorsements.
This is not simply based on anonymous complaints.
Australian regulator ASIC previously named IQ Option Limited and IQ Option Europe Limited trading as IQ Option in an official crackdown concerning unlicensed retail OTC derivative providers.
ASIC said the entities it contacted had been offering financial services to Australian retail investors without the appropriate licence or authorisation and that IQ Option was among those agreeing to remedial action to ensure they stopped providing Australian financial services until appropriately licensed or authorised.
Today, the warning is even more relevant because:
- IQ Option’s current Terms expressly exclude Australian residents;
- the global IQBroker.com service also excludes Australian residents;
- ASIC prohibits binary options from being issued or distributed to Australian retail clients until 2031;
- IQ Option-related entities have appeared in regulator warnings or enforcement records in several countries; and
- numerous customers continue to publicly allege withdrawal delays, blocked accounts and difficulty accessing funds.
These facts do not establish that every company using the IQ branding is committing fraud.
But they are serious warning signs that Australians should investigate before depositing any money.
1. ASIC NAMED IQ OPTION IN AN UNLICENSED-PROVIDER CRACKDOWN
This is the most important fact for Australian investors.
On 6 July 2016, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission published an announcement titled:
“ASIC crackdown on unlicensed retail OTC derivative providers”
ASIC warned about a sharp increase in providers offering complex products such as binary options to Australian retail investors without an appropriate Australian financial services licence or authorisation.
ASIC said it had raised concerns with more than 40 unlicensed providers.
Among the entities specifically named as having agreed to implement remedial measures were:
IQ Option Limited and IQ Option Europe Limited trading as IQ Option.
ASIC said companies in this group agreed to actions designed to ensure they were no longer providing financial services in Australia until appropriately licensed or authorised.
The remedial steps ASIC described included:
- removing references to Australia from websites;
- stopping marketing campaigns directed at Australian investors;
- blocking Australian investors from signing up;
- educating affiliates and introducing brokers not to target Australians;
- closing existing Australian accounts; and
- informing Australians when an entity was not appropriately licensed.
That history matters.
Any claim that IQ Option has never faced Australian licensing concerns is inconsistent with ASIC’s own published record.
2. IQ OPTION’S CURRENT TERMS EXCLUDE AUSTRALIAN RESIDENTS
The current situation is also important.
IQ Option’s own Terms & Conditions currently state that a client must not be a citizen or resident of a list of restricted jurisdictions that explicitly includes:
Australia
The current document also gives the company the ability to suspend or refuse access to the trading platform.
That means an Australian should be extremely careful if:
- an influencer tells them to create an offshore IQ Option account;
- a Telegram group sends an IQ Option referral link;
- a YouTuber tells Australians that IQ Option is available to them;
- an affiliate claims Australians can simply bypass geographic restrictions; or
- someone says IQ Option is “fully legal in Australia” without identifying the exact company and licence.
The obvious question is:
Why would an Australian resident be encouraged to use an offshore service whose own Terms exclude Australian residents?
Do not rely on an advertisement.
Read the client agreement yourself.
3. GLOBAL IQBROKER.COM ALSO EXCLUDES AUSTRALIA
The branding has changed in many places from IQ Option to IQ Broker, so investors should also examine IQBroker.com.
The current global IQBroker.com Terms identify the operator as:
Cortex Engine LLC
Charlestown, Nevis
The Terms specifically list Australia as a non-serviced jurisdiction.
The global website’s Risk Disclosure separately states that its services are not available to residents of Australia.
This is crucial.
IQBroker.com does not tell Australians that its global offshore service is intended for them.
It tells them the opposite.
So if somebody sends an Australian resident directly to global IQBroker.com, the investor should immediately verify:
- who is promoting it;
- whether the promoter is being paid;
- what legal entity the account will belong to;
- what country will regulate that account; and
- why an Australian is being directed to a site whose own Terms list Australia as non-serviced.
4. DO NOT CONFUSE GLOBAL IQBROKER.COM WITH THE AUSTRALIAN IQ.BROKER BUSINESS NAME
This is where the issue becomes more complicated.
Official Australian Business Register records show that Quad Code AU Ltd registered the business name:
IQ.Broker
from 5 June 2025.
This is why it would be incorrect to say that every company using the IQ Broker name currently has no Australian registration or licence.
However, this does not remove the warning.
It makes identification of the actual company even more important.
The global IQBroker.com Terms identify Cortex Engine LLC in Nevis as their operator.
The Australian business name belongs to Quad Code AU Ltd.
Those are different legal entities.
Australian investors must therefore ask:
Which IQ Broker am I actually dealing with?
Do not accept:
“IQ Broker is regulated.”
Ask instead:
Which company?
Which licence?
Which domain?
Which entity receives my deposit?
Which company appears in my Terms & Conditions?
A licence or registration belonging to one company should not automatically be assumed to cover an account contracted with another company offshore.
5. BINARY OPTIONS ARE BANNED FOR AUSTRALIAN RETAIL CLIENTS
Australia has taken particularly strong action against binary options.
ASIC introduced a prohibition on the issue and distribution of binary options to Australian retail clients from 3 May 2021.
ASIC then extended that prohibition until:
1 October 2031
Why?
ASIC reported that before the ban:
- approximately 74%–77% of active retail clients lost money;
- retail accounts suffered approximately A$14 million in aggregate net losses;
- losing accounts lost approximately A$15.7 million;
- profitable accounts generated only approximately A$1.7 million in total profits; and
- previous ASIC reviews found approximately 80% of retail clients lost money trading binary options.
ASIC highlighted three particular characteristics:
- all-or-nothing payouts;
- extremely short trading durations; and
- negative expected returns.
For Australians, this means one thing is very clear:
Binary options cannot legally be issued or distributed to Australian retail clients under ASIC’s current product intervention order.
If somebody is promoting binary options to Australian retail investors, treat that as a serious regulatory red flag.
6. IQ OPTION HAS APPEARED IN REGULATORY WARNINGS ACROSS MULTIPLE COUNTRIES
Australian investors should also examine what regulators elsewhere have said.
The regulatory history is not confined to one country.
🇸🇬 Singapore — MAS Investor Alert List
The Monetary Authority of Singapore currently has an Investor Alert List designed to identify entities that, based on information available to MAS, may have been wrongly perceived as licensed or regulated in Singapore.
The official MAS list contains:
IQ Option Europe Ltd; IQ Option Ltd
This is a government regulator’s alert list — not a competing review site.
🇲🇾 Malaysia — Securities Commission Investor Alert Material
Malaysia’s Securities Commission has also published investor-alert material referencing IQ Option.
An official 2022 Investor Alert update included:
“Potential clone entity – IQ Option”
The Securities Commission states that its Investor Alert List is maintained for public reference and encourages the public to report suspicious capital-market activity.
This should again reinforce the need to identify the exact company and website rather than relying on a logo or brand name.
🇧🇷 Brazil — CVM Took Action Against IQ OPTION LTD
Brazil provides one of the strongest regulatory records.
In April 2020, Brazil’s securities regulator, the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários — CVM, issued Declaratory Act No. 17,790 regarding IQ OPTION LTD.
The regulator said it had found indications that IQ OPTION LTD, through websites including IQOption.com, was improperly soliciting Brazilian investors in connection with:
- Forex;
- contracts for difference;
- binary options.
The CVM stated that IQ OPTION LTD was not authorised to solicit customers resident in Brazil and ordered the immediate suspension of the activity.
IQ Option challenged the decision.
The CVM later recorded that the appeal was rejected unanimously.
Again:
This was an official regulator action, not an anonymous internet accusation.
🇮🇳 India — IQ Option Appears on the RBI Alert List
The Reserve Bank of India also lists IQ Option on its alert list.
The RBI record identifies:
IQ Option — iq-option.com
The RBI explains that the alert list concerns entities that are not authorised to deal in forex under India’s foreign-exchange framework or operate an authorised electronic trading platform for forex transactions.
The precise legal meaning differs by jurisdiction, but the broader point remains important:
A broker operating globally does not automatically have legal authorisation to solicit investors in every country.
7. WHAT DOES THE MULTI-COUNTRY REGULATORY HISTORY TELL INVESTORS?
Each regulatory action must be interpreted separately.
An Australian ASIC action is not automatically a Brazilian CVM finding.
A Singapore alert is not automatically proof of criminal wrongdoing.
But investors are entitled to examine the overall history.
Here is what official sources establish:
Australia
ASIC named IQ Option entities in its crackdown on unlicensed retail OTC derivative providers.
Singapore
IQ Option Europe Ltd and IQ Option Ltd appear on MAS’s Investor Alert List.
Malaysia
The Securities Commission has published investor-alert material referring to a potential IQ Option clone entity.
Brazil
CVM stated IQ OPTION LTD was not authorised to solicit Brazilian investors and ordered the conduct stopped.
India
IQ Option appears on the RBI forex alert list.
Australia today
IQ Option’s current offshore Terms exclude Australian residents.
Global IQBroker.com today
The global service expressly lists Australia as non-serviced.
Binary options
ASIC prohibits their issue and distribution to Australian retail clients until October 2031.
For a prospective investor, this is substantial due-diligence information.
8. 🚨 WITHDRAWAL COMPLAINTS AND BLOCKED-ACCOUNT ALLEGATIONS
The regulatory history is not the only reason for caution.
There are also many public customer reviews concerning:
- withdrawal delays;
- failed withdrawals;
- balances allegedly becoming inaccessible;
- blocked or restricted accounts;
- repeated verification requests;
- missing deposits;
- cancelled or reversed transactions; and
- difficulty obtaining satisfactory customer-support responses.
Trustpilot’s IQ Option/IQBroker profile had more than 2,500 customer reviews when checked in August 2026. Its own summary notes that some users report withdrawal delays and problems involving funds being credited.
Several recent reviews contain much more serious allegations.
Customer alleges blocked account while money remained inside
One March/April 2026 reviewer alleged that approximately $216 remained in the account, that withdrawal attempts were unsuccessful and that trading functionality and the account itself became blocked.
The customer also alleged that support failed to resolve the matter.
This is the reviewer’s allegation and has not been established as a regulatory or court finding.
Customer alleges repeated withdrawal failures despite verification
Another March 2026 reviewer alleged that after depositing and trading, more than ten withdrawal attempts failed even though the customer said the account had previously been verified.
Again, this is a customer allegation.
Customer alleges money remained stuck for months
A June 2026 reviewer alleged that deposited money had failed to appear in their IQ Option balance for approximately four months.
IQ Option responded that deposit investigations can sometimes take additional time when external payment providers are involved.
This demonstrates why readers should examine both the complaint and the company’s response.
Customer alleges account restriction after losses
Another 2026 customer alleged losing approximately £1,000 and subsequently being blocked from the account.
IQ Option responded that account restrictions can occur where verification requirements have not been completed.
Customer alleges withdrawal was rejected after profitable trading
A July 2026 reviewer made an especially serious allegation that after requesting a $6,000 payout, the withdrawal was rejected and profitable trades were subsequently reversed.
IQ Option disputes allegations that withdrawals or winning trades are systematically cancelled simply because a trader becomes profitable.
9. DO THESE COMPLAINTS PROVE IQ OPTION “TAKES USERS’ MONEY”?
No.
That is an important distinction.
A customer saying:
“They took my money”
or
“This is a scam”
is making an allegation.
A public review by itself does not establish theft or fraud.
However, potential customers also should not ignore repeated complaints involving similar themes.
When multiple consumers independently allege problems involving:
withdrawals
blocked accounts
verification
missing funds
transaction reversals
that is legitimate risk information for a prospective customer to consider.
The appropriate conclusion is therefore:
There are multiple serious public allegations involving access to funds and withdrawals, and prospective users should investigate those complaints before depositing.
IQ Option’s responses should also be considered. The company says account and transaction reviews may occur because of security, compliance and verification requirements and disputes claims that profitable customers are systematically prevented from withdrawing.
10. 🚨 WARNING ABOUT INFLUENCERS PROMOTING IQ OPTION OR IQ BROKER TO AUSTRALIANS
Australian investors should be especially cautious when the recommendation comes through:
- YouTube;
- TikTok;
- Instagram;
- Telegram;
- Discord;
- Facebook;
- X;
- private trading groups;
- affiliate review websites.
A promoter may receive money when somebody signs up or deposits through a referral link.
That creates a potential conflict of interest.
Do not assume that someone is an independent reviewer simply because they describe themselves as a trader.
Ask the promoter these questions
Are you being paid by IQ Option or IQ Broker?
Ask specifically about:
- affiliate commissions;
- referral payments;
- sponsorship;
- CPA arrangements;
- revenue sharing;
- free trading credits.
Which legal entity are you promoting?
“IQ Broker” is not enough.
Ask for the company’s full legal name.
Which exact domain will I be sent to?
This is crucial because global IQBroker.com explicitly excludes Australia.
Does your promotion involve binary options?
If the answer is yes and the audience consists of Australian retail clients, remember that ASIC’s binary-options prohibition remains in force until 2031.
Are you authorised to provide financial-product advice or arrange financial transactions in Australia?
Do not confuse popularity with regulatory authorisation.
An influencer with 500,000 followers is not automatically licensed to provide financial services.
IS IQ OPTION A SCAM IN AUSTRALIA?
“Is IQ Option a scam?” is one of the obvious questions potential traders ask.
A responsible investigation should separate documented facts from allegations.
We do not need to make an unsupported criminal accusation because the regulatory history itself is already serious.
DOCUMENTED FACT:
ASIC named IQ Option Limited and IQ Option Europe Limited in its crackdown on unlicensed retail OTC derivative providers.
DOCUMENTED FACT:
IQ Option’s current offshore Terms exclude Australian residents.
DOCUMENTED FACT:
The current global IQBroker.com Terms also exclude Australian residents.
DOCUMENTED FACT:
ASIC bans the issue and distribution of binary options to Australian retail clients until 1 October 2031.
DOCUMENTED FACT:
IQ Option-related entities have appeared in official regulatory warning or enforcement records in multiple jurisdictions.
DOCUMENTED FACT:
Multiple customers publicly allege withdrawal problems, account restrictions and difficulties accessing funds.
ALSO DOCUMENTED:
IQ Option disputes allegations that it systematically prevents profitable users from withdrawing and says account reviews and restrictions may result from security, verification and compliance procedures.
Readers should consider all of these facts before putting money at risk.
⚠️ IS IQ OPTION ILLEGAL OR UNLICENSED IN AUSTRALIA?
The precise answer is:
IQ Option has documented historical Australian unlicensed-provider concerns.
ASIC expressly named IQ Option Limited and IQ Option Europe Limited trading as IQ Option in its 2016 crackdown concerning providers offering Australian financial services without appropriate licensing or authorisation.
Those IQ Option entities agreed to remedial steps designed to stop Australian financial-services activity until appropriately licensed or authorised.
Today, IQ Option’s offshore Terms expressly exclude Australian residents.
Global IQBroker.com similarly lists Australia as non-serviced.
However, a separate Australian company, Quad Code AU Ltd, now has the registered Australian business name IQ.Broker.
Therefore, investors should not simply ask whether “IQ Broker” is licensed.
They need to establish which entity they are actually contracting with.
🚨 FINAL WARNING TO AUSTRALIAN INVESTORS
Our warning is straightforward:
DO NOT fund an offshore IQ Option or global IQBroker.com account merely because a social-media promoter says the platform is “safe” or “regulated.”
ASIC previously named IQ Option entities in an Australian unlicensed-provider crackdown.
IQ Option’s own current Terms exclude Australian residents.
Global IQBroker.com’s current Terms also exclude Australians.
Binary options cannot be issued or distributed to Australian retail clients under ASIC’s prohibition.
International regulators have also published warnings or taken regulatory action involving IQ Option-related entities.
And numerous recent consumers publicly allege difficulties involving withdrawals, blocked accounts and access to funds.
Before transferring even $1, verify:
THE EXACT DOMAIN
THE LEGAL ENTITY
THE AUSTRALIAN LICENCE
THE FINANCIAL PRODUCT
THE PROMOTER’S AUTHORISATION
THE WITHDRAWAL TERMS
THE JURISDICTION PROTECTING YOUR ACCOUNT
Do not rely on screenshots.
Do not rely on affiliate reviews.
Do not rely on somebody saying “regulated worldwide.”
And do not assume that because one Australian company now uses the IQ.Broker business name, every offshore website using similar branding automatically receives Australian regulatory protection.
Verify everything independently before you deposit.
